With Christmas well behind us this was my first day out of the New Year and New Season. The River Dee was approximately 18 inches up and carrying very little colour. The day itself was cold and windy and no fly life to be seen anywhere, so the fishing tactics for the day were a Black Sabbath Moment in other words some heavy metal was required. The Grayling were lying close to the bottom so if the needs must you need to get your flies down to them, hence a lot of tungsten was used for flip flopping...

Having been unable to fish the Rivers since July 2019 due to weather conditions and River levels I managed to squeeze in a few hours with a close friend Neil Darling and as you can see we managed to find the odd Thymallus Thymallus..... Happy days. An evening on Groves Farms, produced some nice Grayling and Brown Trout. |
